The Hamilton Piping Rock is one of the most attractive and highly collectible vintage Hamilton timepieces. The Piping Rock was named after the Piping Rock Country Club in New York, and was given to the 1928 New York Yankees in celebration of their World Series victory. The model has been re-released several times, but this 1937 vintage Piping Rock is one of the originals Here´s the details on this highly collectible classic: Hamilton (14k Piping Rock) - Excellent 28x41mm signed solid 14k yellow gold case (1500xx) with fixed extended lugs (41mm lug to lug) and black enamelled bezel with imbedded gold roman numerals, signed 19 jewel calibre 979-F movement (29165xx, adjusted), excellent signed original dial with blued steel sword hands and subsidiary seconds at 6:00, black genuine crocodile strap. The Piping Rock was one of only three Hamilton models produced with enamel bezels (the Coronado and the Spur were the other two), and is arguably the most popular and collectible Hamilton ever produced. The case on the Piping Rock is unusual in several respects. The black enamel bezel with inlaid gold roman numerals is part of the case, not the dial. The case is of a framed skeletal design. The bezel shows typical minor wear. The dial is original in excellent condition with minor aging. The signed 19 jewel calibre 979-F movement is running fast and will need adjustment or service. The 2.9 serial number on this calibre 979-F movement corroborates the dating of this piece to 1937, as part of the first edition run of this model. These original vintage Piping Rocks are highly collectible and getting harder to find, especially in original condition.
